Senior Men

Our Senior Men's program consists of 3 teams in the Edmonton Rugby Union, 1st Division (Alberta Cup), 2nd Division, and 3rd Division.

Our men play together as a team and have strong friendships off and on the field.

Our program has helped prepare our players to complete at the rep level with many going on to play for the Edmonton Gold, the Prairies Wolfpack, and Team Canada.

We are continually trying to improve and expand our teams through new and experienced players. We welcome all who enjoy the game and would like to try it for the first time. Contact us for details.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE RUGBY ACCOMPLISHMENT SO FAR?
For me, my favourite so far, has been playing 7s for the edmonton gold in Las Vegas 7s tournament. That was a big step for me towards playing more competitive and rep rugby.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT PLAYING FOR THE NWAA?
I've never felt more comfortable playing with a club before. The NWAA is an association filled with talented players and coaches that are passionate about the sport, but still have fun playing the game. It's a great club filled with great people.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE RUGBY MEMORY? ANY FUNNY STORIES?
My rugby memory is probably playing my first year of contact rugby in highschool. I was about half the size of most of the other players on the field and got crushed at least once every game, but thought it was one of the funnest sports I've played.

Kurt Bittner

AGE / HEIGHT: 42 years,  6'2"

YEARS PLAYING: 25 seasons

POSITION: Number 8 / Second Row

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE RUGBY ACCOMPLISHMENT SO FAR?

Playing against East Japan with Team Alberta.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT PLAYING FOR THE NWAA?

The combination of on field performance and off field comradery.  We like to play hard on the field but also remember that we play the game to have fun.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE RUGBY MEMORY? ANY FUNNY STORIES?

I have watched 2 players dive for the try line only to realize, much to their chagrin, that it was the 5 metre line.  Another one was watching one of our backs running with the ball with no other players near him and tripping over his own feet.  He did a massive face plant and may have hurt his shoulder.
